Step 6
Run the CVP Release 7.0 installer; use the checkboxes on the Select Packages screen to choose
Core Software (CVP Call Server) and other Unified CVP components you want to install.
Step 7
If you are moving from a CVP 3.1 deployment, use the export/import utility provided on the
Unified CVP 7.0 installation disk to restore the VBAdmin configuration settings that were
exported in Step 2.
Step 8
If you are moving from a CVP 3.1 deployment, use the Unified CVP 7.0 Operations Console
to configure the Call Server device and install release 7.0 license files. Configuring the Call
Server will, in part, require you to manually enter configuration information that was exported
in Step 2.
Step 9
From the Operations Console, download the 7.0 gateway file set to flash memory on the gateways.
Certain gateway configuration changes are also required and can be performed at this time.
Step 10
Use the Operations Console to configure the new components introduced in Unified CVP Release
7.0.
Converting to Combo Boxes
Unified CVP versions prior to 4.0 were able to run the Voice Browser and the Application
Server either on the same machine (known as a combo box), or on separate machines. In CVP
Release 7.0, Call Servers are the same as combo boxes, which means machines that had
previously housed only App Servers now house Voice Browsers as well, and vice versa. All of
these machines become CVP Call Servers.
The CVP 7.0 upgrade utility automatically lays down the H.323 Service as part of the Core
Software package. This means that every CVP 7.0 Call Server can be configured as a combo
box (that is, H.323 Service, IVR Service, SIP Service, and ICM Service on the same machine)
even if the machine you are upgrading was not originally a combo box. Though present on the
disk, Call Server services do not actually run unless you have configured them to do so. The
Voice Browser is part of the H.323 Service; it runs as a Windows service. If you want to run
the Voice Browser, ensure that the H323 Service options are enabled on the Core Software
Settings screen of the CVP installation program. Use the CVP Call Server menu options on the
Operations Console to configure all other call control services installed with the Core Software
package.
provides information about exporting the Voice
Browser and App Server settings prior to upgrade and then re-applying the settings after upgrade
(the Voice Browser settings via an import utility, the App Server settings by manually configuring
the IVR Service and ICM Service). If you upgrade to a Unified CVP 7.0 Call Server that did
not previously house a Voice Browser, there is no previous configuration to import. In this case,
you need to use the VBAdmin utility to manually configure the new Voice Browser.
