Queue and Transfer does not require VXML gateways; however, the Comprehensive call
flow model does. If you are migrating from Queue and Transfer to Comprehensive call flow
model, it is likely that you will need to add VXML gateways. You might consider using this
opportunity to refresh to newer, higher capacity gateways.
Dedicated Type 2 and Type 8 CVP Call Control Servers are no longer necessary.
If you are using older gateway or gatekeeper hardware, the version of IOS required in this
release may no longer support that hardware, making it necessary for you to purchase new
hardware. For more details, see your IOS documentation and the Unified CVP Bill of Materials
at the following location.
custcosw/ps1006/prod_technical_reference_list.html).
As of CVP 4.0, Media Termination is no longer supported in the H.323 service. You must
migrate all calls that formerly used H.323 media termination to the Comprehensive deployment
model, using either Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) (preferred) or H.323 for call control.
Perform this migration after the upgrade to Unified CVP Release 4.1. See the section
CVP 3.1 SR2 Product Component Upgrades
Note: The CVP 7.0 upgrade cannot be rolled back. It is strongly recommended that you back
up the entire disk prior to upgrade.
CVP Call Server
To upgrade a Unified CVP Call Control Server to a CVP 7.0 Call Server:
Step 1
Back up the entire disk so that it might be restored, if necessary.
Step 2
In CVP 3.1 deployments, export the Unified CVP App Server and Voice Browser configuration
information using UnifiedCVPUpgrade.exe, the upgrade utility program provided on the CVP
7.0 release disks. It is recommended that you store the resulting export files offline.
There may also be some configuration settings that need to be copied manually to paper. The
Voice Browser configuration will later be imported using the same utility, but the new IVR and
ICM Services need to be configured manually using the CVP 7.0 Operations Console.
Step 3
In CVP 3.1 deployments, uninstall the old version of Unified CVP using the utilities provided
when that version was originally installed.
Step 4
Upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003, if applicable. This can be done in-place, or
you can reformat the disk and install the new operating system.
Step 5
Install or re-install qualified 3rd party software if applicable.
