  Packet Analysis
The following systtat commands are available from the restricted shell:
iostat—Reports CPU statistics and input/output statistics for devices, partitions and network
filesystems.
mpstat—Reports individual or combined processor-related statistics.
pidstat—Reports statistics for Linux tasks (processes) such as I/O, CPU, memory usage.
Packet Analysis
Traffic Filtering, and Packet Analysis with Cisco AXP are explained in the following sections:

RITE Traffic Filtering and Sampling
RITE (Router IP Traffic Export) is a Cisco IOS software export tool that supports traffic filtering and
sampling. RITE is supported by Cisco AXP. RITE duplicates and exports traffic on a monitored
interface. The Integrated-Service-Engine interface used by the Cisco AXP service module behaves like
an Ethernet interface and is supported by RITE. Using RITE, the analysis module does not need to be
attached to the Cisco router (unlike with the Cisco AXP Promiscuous Packet API).
RITE provides:
Traffic monitoring of email inbound, outbound, or in both directions
Control of ACL filtering and sampling rate
Sampling of one in every n packets during traffic sampling
Easy profile capture before applying the profile on an interface
Finer-grained detail of traffic capture compared to the Cisco AXP Promiscuous Packet API
Using RITE, you can specify:
Export interface
Monitoring of an interface with a different encapsulation type including the
Integrated-Service-Engine interface, which behaves like an Ethernet interface
VLAN interface
Access Control Lists
Sampling rate
Note
Router generated traffic is not captured by RITE. Router generated packets are process switched. They
are not cef switched. There is only one export interface per profile and one profile per monitored
interface.
