Chapter 14      Using SAP Adapters
  Reference Information
  •
Time out if not completed within—Time out interval (seconds, minutes) within which the activity 
must complete. The default is 60 seconds.
If the command does not complete within the specified time out interval, the activity will fail with 
Failed (Not Completed) status.
Read Java Log Properties
Use the Read Java Log activity to retrieve and parse one or more Java logs on an SAP Java server.
  •
Log File—Log file name:
  –
For SAP systems v7.0 or lower – enter server, database, logging, etc.
  –
For SAP system v7.10 or higher – enter server_00, database_00, logging_00, etc.
  •
Log Count—Number of logs to parse (log number is a suffix of a log file name)
  •
Match Pattern—A grep pattern to match log entries within log files
  •
Exclude Patterns—A comma-delimited list of filter patterns to be excluded from log entries. 
Wildcards are allowed.
  •
Cluster ID—Java Cluster ID
  •
Maximum time frame for specified log entries—Check the check box and then specify the time 
window for the time frame to read log entries. The default window is the last 30 seconds. Uncheck 
the check box to disable the field
  •
Return matched log messages—Check the check box if you want matched log messages to be 
returned
  •
Maximum Number of Entries—If the Return matched log messages check box is checked, enter the 
maximum number of log entries to be read
  •
Timeout if not completed within—Time out interval (seconds, minutes) within which the activity 
must complete. The default is 60 seconds. If the activity does not complete within the specified time 
out interval, the activity will fail with Failed (Not Completed) status.

 Click the time unit link to change the timed out interval from seconds to minutes.

 Uncheck the check box to disable the field
Read Java Log – Result
The Read Java Log- Result read-only page displays the results of the retrieved Java logs. The Read Java 
Log parses out fields based on their positions in a log entry. The Read Java Log activity returns a table 
with the following columns:
  •
Cluster ID—Java cluster ID
  •
Log File Name—Java log file name
  •
DateTime—Date and Time of a log entry
  •
Severity—Log severity, Error, Info, etc.
  •
Category—Category of log entries, i.e.,/System/Server.
  •
Location—Time when the value was retrieved
  •
User—User of a portal action
  •
Application—Portal application, i.e., sap.com/irj.
