Managing Application Sets
Introduction
The TSBroadcaster allows you to create and manage application sets. An application
set defines one or more OCAP applications and consists of the following elements:
•
•
A file system containing the application class files, assets, and data. This shows
how the application set is deployed in a DSM-CC file system.
•
Application signaling that identifies the application(s) carried in the application
set. Typically, one application will be signaled in the application set, but more
applications may be signaled if required.
•
Physical transmission characteristics of the file system, comprising the
recommended overall bit rate to be allocated to the application set and a set of
groups containing the DSM-CC file system objects. Objects that are placed in the
same group will be transmitted together in one or more modules. The
TSBroadcaster allows you to define whether the modules carrying a group of
objects will be compressed, and it allows you to specify the repetition rate of those
modules, relative to the modules of other groups within the application set.
You can use the TSBroadcaster to test and run OCAP applications from any
development system, including Java compilers, IDEs and specialized development
tools for OCAP. To load an application into the TSBroadcaster, you must copy in the
code and data files, and then provide the supporting information needed to transmit
and run the application.
