SNMP Monitoring
Introduction
The TSBroadcaster and TSPlayer provide status monitoring via SNMP polling and
traps. This section provides information on how SNMP monitoring works.
How SNMP Monitoring Works
The SNMP monitoring is performed by standalone SNMP monitor programs. Each
program polls status information from the TSBroadcaster or TSPlayer program every
30 seconds and makes it available through an SNMP interface. This implementation
allows active reporting if the TSBroadcaster or TSPlayer programs stop responding.
The monitoring programs provide monitoring for the TSBroadcaster on port 2161
The monitoring programs provide monitoring for the TSBroadcaster on port 2161
and the TSPlayer on port 1161. The monitoring programs forward any monitoring
requests that they cannot fulfill to the standard SNMP monitoring port 161. This
allows a single SNMP monitor port to provide information about the TSBroadcaster
or TSPlayer and the standard reporting provided by the operating system.
