Configure Dialup Remote Access
Introduction
The following procedure is provided to assist Cisco field service engineers in
configuring remote access to systems. Through remote access, field service engineers
can dial in and troubleshoot a system from a remote location.
Configuration Procedure Checklist
Before starting the configuration procedure, complete the following checklist.
1.
Obtain a working phone line.
2.
Identify any prefix needed to get an outside line.
3.
Obtain an external US Robotics 56K modem, model number 5686.
4.
Obtain a DB-25 male to DB-25 male cable.
Modem Installation Procedure
Follow these instructions to install the modem.
1.
Attach the wall-mounted power supply for the modem to the backup power
supply for the Sun workstation.
2.
Attach the power jack into the back of the modem.
3.
Attach one end of the DB-25 male cable to Port A of the Sun workstation.
4.
Attach the other end of the DB-25 male cable to the DB-25 female connector of
the modem.
5.
Turn on the power to the modem.
Important: If you receive the following error message after turning on power
