Delete the copyControlParams File
Introduction
Early versions of the copyControlParams.inf file were loaded onto the DNCS with
erroneous default values. In this procedure, you will delete the
copyControlParams.inf file that is currently on your DNCS. Then, during the
upgrade, when the system determines that the file is missing, it will load the correct
version of the file.
Note:  You can skip this procedure if you know for a fact that your system does not
use the copyControlParams.inf file. If you are uncertain, begin the procedure. One of
the steps in the procedure is designed to determine whether the system you are
upgrading uses the copyControlParams.inf file.
Deleting the copyControlParams File
Follow these instructions to delete the copyControlParams.inf file from the DNCS.

  1.  Check with the system operator and determine whether the site you are
upgrading has any customized entries in the copyControlParams.inf file.
Note:  If the copyControlParams.inf file has customized entries, you will
make a back up copy of the file before deleting it.
Important:  If your copyControlParams file has been customized, be sure to
note it as a special file so that you can reference it later, after the upgrade,
and add those customized entries back into the new version of the
copyControlParams file. Refer to Examine Key Files, earlier in this chapter,
for information about notating files that need to be backed up specially.
  2.  If necessary, open an xterm window on the DNCS.
  3.  Type cd  /export/home/dncs and then press Enter
Result:  The /export/home/dncs directory becomes the working directory.
  4.  Type ls  copyControlParams.inf and then press Enter
Result:  If the copyControlParams.inf exists, the system lists its properties; if
the file does not exist, the command prompt is displayed.
  5.  Does the copyControlParams.inf exist?
•
If yes, continue with step 6.
•
If no, skip the rest of this procedure and go to Prepare to Activate the
Spectrum Software, next in this chapter.
