SR 2.5 and SR 3.5 Upgrade Procedures

for the Enterprise 450 and Sun Fire V880 DNCS 

The following procedure prepares the database mirrors of the Enterprise 450 DNCS 

for the upgrade. In this procedure, you will attach the c4 disk slices to the database 

mirrors in order to create three-way mirrors. These disk slices will be detached later 

so that they can be used for the Live Upgrade. 
Important:  Note these important points: 
• 

Complete this procedure only if you are upgrading an Enterprise 450 DNCS. If you 

are upgrading a Sun Fire V880 DNCS, go to Detach File System Mirrors on the 

Sun Fire V880 DNCS, next in this chapter. 

• 

This procedure can take up to an hour to complete. Do not move on to the next 

procedure until you have completed this procedure. 

Notes:   
• 

The CD labeled DBDS Maintenance CD should still be in the CD drive of the 

DNCS. 

• 

You should still be logged in as root user to an xterm window on the DNCS. 

 

1. 

From an xterm window on the Enterprise 450 DNCS, type  

/cdrom/cdrom0/s3/sai/scripts/Media/attach_DBmirrors and then press Enter. 
Result:  A confirmation message appears. 

2. 

Type y and then press Enter. 
Result:  The system attached the database mirroring function on the 

Enterprise 450 DNCS.

Go to Install the DNCS Software on an Enterprise 450 or Sun Fire V880 

DNCS, later in this chapter.
