Status Monitor Configuration Procedure
Introduction
The SM needs to know the node's hardware configuration (number of receivers,
transmitters, power supplies, and AC lines mounted or connected) so that it can
monitor and control the node's behavior correctly.  This configuration data is stored
in an EEPROM residing on the SM main board.
The SM includes an HMS compliant transponder module that plugs into the LCM
main board.  The transponder is designed to work without manual configuration.
Once powered up in a network, the transponder will go through an auto-registering
process.  The transponder module contains a local control (craft) port that can be
used to optionally configure the SM using a handheld programming terminal.
Notes:

You can still use the Auto-Setup button to configure the LCM.

You may have to manually configure the transponder using a handheld
programming terminal.

You can use remote configuration capabilities to configure the LCM/node if
your headend is properly equipped.
