Pre-Installation Checklist-Alarm Manager Server

Follow these instructions to determine whether each Alarm Manager server
can successfully ping each Alarm Manager client PC by IP address.

From an xterm window on each server, type ping [Alarm Manager
client PC IP address] and then press Enter for each Alarm Manager
client PC.

Did the message similar to device is alive appear each time?
Note: If yes, then each ping command was successful.
Note: If yes, then each ping command was successful.
If this is a site Alarm Manager server, follow these instructions to determine
whether the site Alarm Manager server can successfully ping each DNCS, as
referenced by section (D) in the pre-installation checklist diagram, by IP
address and hostname.

From an xterm window on the site Alarm Manager server, type
ping [DNCS IP address] and then press Enter.

From an xterm window on the site Alarm Manager server, type
ping [DNCS hostname] and then press Enter.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each DNCS and each Alarm Manager server.

Note: If yes, then each ping command was successful.
Note: If yes, then each ping command was successful.
If this is a site Alarm Manager server, follow these instructions to determine
whether the site Alarm Manager server can successfully ping the NOC
Alarm Manager server, as referenced by section (A) in the pre-installation
checklist diagram, by IP address and hostname.

ping [NOC Alarm Manager server IP address] and then press Enter.

From an xterm window on the site Alarm Manager server, type
ping [NOC Alarm Manager hostname] and then press Enter.

Note: If yes, then each ping command was successful.
If this is a NOC Alarm Manager server, follow these instructions to
determine whether the NOC Alarm Manager server can successfully ping all
site Alarm Manager servers, as referenced in section (B) of the pre-
installation checklist diagram, by IP address and hostname.

ping [site Alarm Manager server IP address] and then press Enter.

From an xterm window on the NOC Alarm Manager server, type
ping [site Alarm Manager hostname] and then press Enter.
