Connecting the Cloud Platform Elements
Defining the OpenStack Cloud Manager Platform Element
You must be logged in as the Cloud Provider Technical Administrator to perform this task. Complete the following steps
to define the connection information for the OpenStack Cloud Manager that will be used in Cisco Intelligent Automation
for Cloud 4.3.1.
1.
Choose Setup > System Settings > Connections tab.
2.
Click Connect Cloud Infrastructure.
3.
On the Connect Cloud Infrastructure form, choose OpenStack Cloud Manager from the Platform Element Type
drop-down list.
4.
Specify the following connection information for the OpenStack Cloud Manager server:
a.
Enter the Connection Name. This is the “friendly name” for the OpenStack Cloud Manager connection.
b.
Enter the Host Name. This is the host name or IP address for the OpenStack Nova Compute.
c.
Enter the Port. This is the TCP/IP port used to connect to the OpenStack Nova Compute. By default, the following
Port 8774 is used.
d.
Click the True or False radio button to indicate whether Secure connection protocol is used to connect to the
server. True is chosen by default.
e.
Click the True or False radio button to indicate whether certificate error messages should be ignored. True is
chosen by default.
f.
Choose either Admin or Public for the Endpoint URL Type. Default is Admin. This sets the URL type to be used
by Cisco IAC to contact and perform actions on OpenStack.
g.
Set the APIC Enabled OpenStack option to Yes if the OpenStack deployment is enabled with the APIC plug-in.
If set to Yes, you then select the Cisco APIC to be used.
Note:
A Cisco APIC platform element must already be added to Cisco IAC before selecting Yes for use with
OpenStack.
h.
Set the GBP Enabled OpenStack option. If set to Yes, the OpenStack deployment supports the GBP API and has
the GBP driver installed.
Note:
APIC Enabled OpenStack (previous step) must also be set to Yes to be able to set this option to Yes.
Note:

By default, port 5000, the Public URL endpoint port, is set. Alternatively, you can specify the AdminURL port
35357.
Support For OpenStack Connection Using Public URL
Cisco IAC supports both Public and Admin URLs. The default is Admin URL. This is part of the Connect and Update

the Type and then choose Connect Cloud > Update Cloud > View Cloud Connections for the OpenStack platform
element.

For the Keystone Domain option, leave as “default” unless you know your exact Keystone Domain (set by
OpenStack on set up).
k.
Enter the account User Name to use when connecting to the OpenStack Cloud Manager server.
