 PRECAUTIONS
Operation of some of the functions of this unit is very complex.
Because of this, it was deemed necessary to place these functions
into a special screen. This will restrict operation of these
functions to times when the vehicle is parked. This ensures the
focus of the driver’s attention will be on the road and not on the
monitor. This has been done for the safety of the driver and
passengers.
Setup Operation and Search Function cannot be made if the car is
moving. The car must be parked and the parking brake must be
engaged for the procedure described in the Owner’s Manual to be
valid. The warning “CAN’T OPERATE WHILE DRIVING,” will
be displayed  if any attempts are made to perform these
operations while driving.
• Be sure to disconnect the cable from the (–) battery post before
installing your VPA-B211P/VPA-B211E. This will reduce any
chance of damage to the unit in case of a short-circuit.
• Be sure to connect the colour coded leads according to the
diagram. Incorrect connections may cause the unit to
malfunction or damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
• When making connections to the vehicle's electrical system, be
aware of the factory installed components (e.g. on-board
computer). Do not tap into these leads to provide power for
this unit. When connecting the VPA-B211P/VPA-B211E to the
fuse box, make sure the fuse for the intended circuit of the
VPA-B211P/VPA-B211E has the appropriate amperage.
Failure to do so may result in damage to the unit and/or the
vehicle. When in doubt, consult your ALPINE dealer.
• The VPA-B211P/VPA-B211E uses female RCA-type jacks for
connection to other units (e.g. amplifier) having RCA
connectors. You may need an adaptor to connect other units. If
so, please contact your authorized ALPINE dealer for
assistance.
