Timer recording
Using VIDEO Plus+ number to make 
timer recording
[HDD] [RAM] [DVD-R]
Remote control only
You can easily programme the unit to make a timer recording of a 
programme by entering the programme’s VIDEO Plus+ number, 
which can be found in the television sections of newspapers or in 
television guides. You can programme up to 32 programmes one 
month in advance. Programmes for everyday or every week are 
counted as one programme.
Preparation
≥Switch [DVD, TV] (15) to “DVD”.
≥Ensure that this unit’s clock is set correctly.
≥(Make sure there is sufficient empty space on the disc for the 
programme you are going to record plus a little extra.)
Recording to the HDD:
Confirm there is sufficient empty space for recording on the 
HDD. (page 29)
Recording to the disc:
Insert a disc that can be written to.
- Check that disc can be recorded on (page 10).
- Ensure the write protect tab is not set to “PROTECT” 
(page 89).
- Ensure the disc is not write-protected with DISC 
INFORMATION (page 42).

Press [VIDEO Plus+] 
(2) button.

Press the numeric buttons 
(4) to enter the VIDEO 
Plus+ number.
≥If you enter the wrong digit, use [2] (10) to move back and 
enter the correct digit.

Press [ENTER] 
(10).
≥The Timer Programme Correction screen which allows you to 
confirm the programme appears and make corrections if 
necessary.
Check the programme.
To make corrections - Recording date, Recording time, 
Recording mode or PDC setting etc (page 36).
To programme other recordings, repeat steps 1, 2, and 3.

Confirm that “HDD/DVD” is selected and use [

(10) to select the recording drive (HDD/DVD).

If the programme is correct
Press [ENTER] 
(10).
≥The Timer Programme List screen appears.

Press [RETURN] 
(23).
ªTo put the unit on recording standby
Press [
Á, TIMER] (12).
≥Ensure “Á” lights on the unit’s display.
≥The unit is not off. To save electricity, turn the unit off by pressing  
[DVD, 
Í] (1).
≥If the unit is turned on when it is in timer recording standby mode, 
a message screen will be displayed. When in this state the unit 
can be used for playback* and JPEG operations, but it is not 
possible to use the tuner on the unit to view television 
broadcasts.
* The unit can only play the currently set TV system if the unit is 
in timer recording standby mode.
ªIf “– –” appears under “Name” after entering a 
VIDEO Plus+ number
Name stands for Programme Position/TV Station Name.
Normally, the name of the TV station or the number of the 
programme position is displayed under “Name”.
However, if the TV station information was not automatically set 
during Preset Downroad or Auto Setup due to adverse reception 
conditions, the “– –” indication appears instead.
In such a case, follow the operation steps below to correct it.
Use [
34(10) repeatedly to select the programme 
position on which the TV programme to be recorded 
will be broadcast.
After you have entered the information of a TV station, it remains 
stored in the unit’s memory, and you do not need to enter it again 
in the future.
