The unit sets the best possible picture quality that fits 
the programme within the remaining disc space. 
The recording mode becomes FR mode. Refer to “FR 
(Flexible recording mode)” (

➔ 22).

 

 

With the unit stopped

 

 e, r to select “To Others”, then 

 e, r to select 

“Flexible Rec”, 
then 

 w, q to select “Hour” and “Min.” 

and e, r to set the recording time.

You can set “Hour” and “Min.” using the 
numbered buttons.

When you want to start recording

, r, w, q to select “Start”, then 

 

Recording starts.

 Notes

You cannot record more than 8 hours.

 Tips

To exit the screen
Press [EXIT].

To stop recording partway
Press [g STOP].

To show the remaining recording time
Press [STATUS  ] to show the remaining recording time.

Chasing Playback

Allows playback from the beginning of the title you are 
recording.

 Tips

To stop play
Press [g STOP] once.

To stop recording
2 seconds after play stops, press [g STOP].

Simultaneous Record and Playback

Allows playback of a previous title, while recording 
something else.

 

During recording

 

 e, r, w, q to select the title to 

play, then 

 Tips

To stop play
Press [g STOP].

To exit the DIRECT NAVIGATOR screen
Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

To stop recording
After play stops
1. Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR] to exit the screen.
2. Press [g STOP].

 Notes

During playing while you are recording, you cannot edit or delete 
titles.
