If you activated the write-protection, deactivate it.
!
Press REC MODE to select the recording mode.
!
In stop mode, use INPUT SELECT to select the input channel AV3.
!
Start the playback on the external device.
!
 
Press   REC at the point where you want to begin recording.
!
Press PAUSE    to pause recording. Press the button to resume recording. 
!
Press STOP 
 
 to stop recording. 
                      Connect the external device to the AV3 input sockets on the front side 
of the unit.
Recording of bilingual programmes:
     If [M1] and [M2] are selected on the connected device, you can choose the audio mode 
during playback.  
                 Select [M1] or [M2] on the connected device. You cannot select the audio mode 
during playback. 
If the output signal of the external device is an NTSC signal, set the TV system in the SETUP 
menu to [NTSC].

Selecting an audio channel to be recorded in two-channel sound
!
Analogue channels: In the Sound SETUP menu, select the Bilingual Audio Selection 
[M1] or [M2] setting.
!
Digital channels: Select the desired channel in the DISPLAY menu under [DVB Multi 
Audio].
FLEXIBLE REC (FR) 
                       The unit calculates the best possible recording quality between XP and EP. 
It is adjusted to fit the space available on the disc. This function is not possible during an 
EXT LINK recording.
!
In stop mode, press FUNCTIONS.
!
Use  
 to select [To Others] and press ENTER.
!
Use  
 to select FLEXIBLE REC and press ENTER.
!
Use  
       or the numeric buttons to select the required recording time.
!
Use  
       to select [Start] and confirm with ENTER. The recording begins.
!
Press RETURN to exit the FLEXIBLE REC window.
!
Press STOP 
 
 to cancel the recording before the end has been reached.
Neither the channel nor the recording mode can be changed in PAUSE mode.
Displaying the available recording time
!
Press STATUS several times. 
Recording
       Titles recorded to the HDD (Hard disk drive) in FR mode are recorded such that they 
can later be exactly copied to a 4.7GB disc. 
The title has not be edited for copying to disc or the recording mode (XP-EP) does not 
need to be changed. 
The title is deleted and cannot be restored.
!
Use    to select [Erase] and confirm with ENTER. 
The available recording time may remain the same after the deletion of short titles. 
The recording time available on DVD-R/+R remains the same.
