If your computer case does not have an internal USB 3.0 connection, you can connect a
USB 2.0 cable to the USB card’s internal USB 3.0 port (in this case, USB 2.0 data transfer
rate is the maximum possible).
Make sure that the cables do not come into contact with the computer fan, use e.g.
cable ties to fasten them.
•  Reclose your computer’s case.
•  Connect your computer and monitor to the power supply and turn on all devices.
•  If your computer does not start up normally, turn it off immediately and check all settings and
cable connections.
Before reopening your computer, disconnect it from the power supply; see above!
Driver installation
Windows recognizes the card automatically. Stop the automatic search for drivers and/or hard-
ware recognition.
Insert the included CD into the corresponding drive on your computer and start the installation
program on the CD. Follow all instructions in the program/Windows.
You need to restart your computer after installing the drivers for the USB card to function properly.
Tips and notes
 Important:

It is necessary to connect the USB card’s power supply to a suitable connector on your
PC power adapter. Otherwise, USB devices connected to the USB devices will not be
identified properly!
•  USB2.0/1.1-Geräte
A USB 3.0 port also supports “old” USB 2.0/1.1 devices. Simply connect the USB device to one
of the USB ports on the card.
Use USB 2.0/1.1 connection cables to connect USB 2.0/1.1 devices.
USB 2.0/1.1 devices will not work faster when operated from a USB 3.0 port. If the USB 2.0 con-
troller on the mainboard, however, works slowly, it might for example be possible for USB 2.0
hard disks connected to a USB 3.0 port on the USB card to transfer data at a higher speed.
•  USB 3.0 devices
A USB 3.0 cable is required to connect USB 3.0 devices to the card. A USB 3.0 plug may look a
great deal like a USB 2.0/1.1 plug, however it has additional connecting components.
A USB B plug on a USB 3.0 cable has a different form.
A USB 3.0 hard disk case may be operated from a USB 3.0/2.0/1.1 port using a USB 2.0/1.1 cable.
However, a high data transfer rate is not possible in this case.
In order to take advantage of the high USB 3.0 data transfer rate, a USB 3.0 controller is required
in addition to a USB 3.0 end device and a suitable USB 3.0 cable.
In theory, USB 3.0 offers a data transfer speed of 5 Gbit (about 600 Mbyte/s). However, the ac-
tual speed reached during operation will depend on the devices transferring data (internal and
external hard drive), the type of data (many small files or few large files) and many other factors.
Each of the USB card’s USB 3.0 ports supplies an output current of 900 mA.
Disposal
