• Exclusively use fuses of the type and rated current specified. It is absolutely prohibited to use repaired
fuses.
• The function generator is not designed for application to human beings or animals.
• Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 25V alternating current (AC) or 35V direct
current (DC). Even with voltages as low as these, it is possible to receive a life-threatening electric
shock by touching electric conductors.
• Check your function generator or your measuring lines (sensor heads, BNC cables) and the mains
cable for damage before starting to measure.
• To prevent electric shock, make sure that the sensor head tip(s) or alligator clips as well as the connec-
tions to be measured (measuring spots) do not touch, not even indirectly.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect the device imme-
diately and secure it against inadvertent operation. It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer
possible if:
- the device exhibits visible damage,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- the device was exposed to extraordinary stress in transit.
•  You should also heed the additional safety instructions in each chapter of these operating instructions
as well as in the operating instructions of the connected devices.
6. Initial operation
6.1 Connecting the power cable
• Connect the provided shockproof power cable to the power connector (21) at the function generator.
Make sure it is plugged properly.
• Connect the power cable to a shockproof mains socket with protective grounding.
6.2 Switch on/off
• Press the mains switch to turn the generator on or off. In pressed position, the device is on.
• The device performs a self-test after being turned on, which is indicated by the lighting up of all display
segments. The generator is ready for operation after the test.
6.3 Basic settings
• In order to ensure that the output signal is symmetric and also not influenced by the wobble generator,
please observe the following table:
Operating element
Switch position
Wobble function „SWEEP WIDTH“ (15)
depressed
Symmetry „SYM“ (14)
depressed
DC offset (11)
depressed
Attenuator „ATT“ (8)
not depressed
Switch „COUNTER INT/EXT“ (17)
not depressed
