The lamp tester serves as a diagnosis and error search device on gas filled lighted systems.
It can check gas filled lighting up to a maximum of 100 watts in voltage free status for functionality.
Possible light types: High and low pressure sodium discharge lamps, neon tubes, fluorescent tubes , mercury vapor
lamps, energy saving lamps (not suitable for LED or incandescent lamps).
The gas filled light is ionized via a high frequency voltage via a telescopic antenna on the test device and should
light up during correct function. The test ca be carried out in an installed or dismantled state. The user should not
touch the light with the hands. The antenna should not be touched during the test.
An additional test tests the heating coil of the fluorescent tubes. An optical and acoustic continuity test should be
carried out on both plug contacts of the T series lamps.
An integrated LED torch also enables work in badly lit environments.
The lamp tester is certified for the area of measuring category CAT III to a maximum 300 V to earth potential in
accordance with EN 61010-1, as well as all lower measuring categories. The test device may not be used in the
vicinity of measuring category CAT IV. No extreme voltage may be applied at the telescope test antenna.
The test device is operated via four commercial 1.5 V micro batteries (Type AAA, LR03). The multimeter may be
operated with the specified battery type only. Batteries with a cell voltage of 1.2 V may not be used. An automatic
power-off function prevents premature battery drain.
The device may not be operated when opened, with open battery compartment or missing battery compartment
cover.
Testing in explosive areas (Ex) or humidors or under unfavorable ambient conditions is not permitted. Adverse
ambient conditions are defined as such: Dampness or a high level of humidity, dust and flammable gases, vapors
or solvents as well as thunderstorms or thunderstorm conditions such as strong electrostatic fields etc. Likewise
changing batteries in this area is prohibited.
The device may only be operated by persons who are familiar with the required regulations for testing and possible
dangers. The use of personal protective equipment is recommended.
Any use other than that described above will damage the product and may involve other hazards such as short-
circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. The product as a whole must not be modified or altered!
Read this user manual completely before first use and keep it for future reference.
Observe the safety instructions at all times!
