c) Inserting and changing the batteries
Four 1.5 volt micro batteries (e.g. AAA or LR03 or similar) are needed for operating the  
device. New, full batteries must be inserted on initial start-up or when the acoustic battery 
change signal sounds on pressing the “TEST” button.
proceed as follows to insert/replace batteries:
•   Remove all connected contacts from the device and push the antenna back together. 
•   Loosen the back screw with a suitable Phillips-tip screwdriver. Remove the battery 
compartment cover from the device.
•   Replace the used batteries with new ones of the same type. Insert the new batteries 
correctly into the battery compartment (9). Observe the polarity markings in the battery 
compartment.
•   Reclose the housing carefully. 
   Never operate the device when open.

 Never leave used batteries in the device since even leak-proof batteries can corrode and release 
chemicals which can damage your health or destroy the device. 
 
 do not leave batteries lying about unattended. Children or pets may swallow batteries left lying 
about. If a battery has been swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.
 
 remove the batteries from the device for extended periods of disuse to prevent leakage.
 
 Leaking or damaged batteries may cause chemical burns if they come into contact with your skin. 
Wear suitable protective hand wear when handling such batteries. 
 
 Never short-circuit batteries. do not throw batteries into fire. 
 
 Never charge or dismantle batteries. there is risk of fire or explosion.
