Multiple overwriting of the entire hard disc and subsequent test
This deletion method overwrites every hard disc sector three times in sequence. First, every
sector is overwritten with “0x00” (1), then with “0xFF” (2) and last with random data (3).
Then the copy station verifies that the data actually have been written randomly (4) or whether
any error occurred in steps 1, 2 or 3.
Because of this, the deletion process takes many hours depeding on hard disc capacity!
The data usually cannot be recovered anymore after overwriting 3 times and are
lost completely!
This deletion mode should only be used if sensitive data are to be deleted to use
the hard disc for different purposes, because it is very time-consuming.
The display describes this deletion method as “DoD EraseComp”, with “DoD”
meaning “U.S.A. Department of Defense”.
In the basic settings of the copy station, only the target hard disc (“Target”) is deleted. This
setting can be changed as described in Chapter 8. f) to delete both hard discs.
For reasons of safety, we recommend disconnecting the source hard disc (“Source”)
from the copy station  if only the target hard disc is to be deleted.
This prevents accidental deletion if the setting in the setup menu (Chapter 8. f) is
incorrect.
