Preparation for Installation
The overhead light may be installed only by a qualifi ed technician who is
familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE)!
Improper work carried out at the mains voltage endangers not only your
life but also the life of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not in-
stall it yourself but entrust a qualifi ed electrician.
Please refer to the section "Safety Information"!
•  Only install the ceiling light on a stable surface. Use screws and plugs that are suit-
able for the surface. Only use the product when it is fi rmly mounted/steady.
•  The ceiling light must be installed and used out of the reach of children.
•  The ceiling light must be protected by a 10/16A fuse on the customer's distribution
board. An earth leakage circuit breaker must be installed before this (FI protective
switch).
•  Only install the ceiling light when it is disconnected from the power supply. It is not
suffi cient to just turn off at the light switch!
Turn the power off and ensure that all the poles are not carrying a current by remov-
ing the electric circuit's fuse, or switching off at the circuit breaker. Secure it against
unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign.
In addition, switch off the associated earth  fault circuit interrupter.
•  Check that the mains cable is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
Installation and Connection
Pay attention to the information in chapter "Preparation for Installation"!
•   Remove the mounting plate from the rear of the overhead light. To do so, remove the
locking screws with the Allen key that is included . After this, remove the mounting
plate.
•   If plugs are needed to affi x the mounting plate to the ceiling of the room (depending
on the texture of ceiling), mark the position of the drill holes through the holes in the
mounting plate.
When drilling, mounting holes or screwing into place, ensure that no existing
cables or pipes are damaged.
•  Put the mains cable through the corresponding cable hole in the mounting plate
and attach the mounting plate to the ceiling using suitable screws (and wall plugs, if
necessary).
•  Connect the mains cable using the terminal strip in the overhead light  housing
(brown cable = L, blue cable = N, green/yellow cable = PE/earth, earth symbol).
The protective earth wire must be connected!
When the ceiling lamp is to replace an existing light and no protective earth is
available, do not install the ceiling lamp. First, draw a new mains cable.
Where the protective earth is not connected, a fault with the mains voltage
might result in the metal housing of the ceiling lamp becoming live. There is a
risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
Make sure only the minimum required length of the cable is stripped; otherwise it
could cause a short-circuit.
Also check the other screw connections on the terminal strip (for the light's connec-
tion cables) and tighten them if necessary.
•  Attach the overhead light to the mounting plate. Make sure that the mains cable is
not pinched or trapped.
•  Secure the overhead light to the mounting plate by screwing the locking screws
tightly with the Allen key.
•  Install a light bulb; see the following section "Installing/changing light bulbs".
•  After installing the light bulb, switch on the mains voltage and check the function of
the overhead light.
If the bulb in the overhead light does not light up, switch off the mains voltage
immediately (take out fuse or switch off at the circuit breaker).
Thereafter, check the overhead light connections.
In case of doubt, contact a professional (e.g. an electrician)!
Inserting/Replacing the Bulb
Attention, risk of burns!
Before you replace a faulty bulb, switch off the lamp and wait until the faulty
bulb and the lamp have cooled down suffi ciently.
•  Remove the transparent covering by turning it counter-clockwise.
•  Screw a suitable energy-saving light bulb into the light socket (E27, max. 16 W). The
bulb must not be too long, since otherwise the covering cannot be fully screwed in.
•  Screw the cover that was removed at the beginning back on. Do not use force.
•  After installing or changing the bulb, switch on the light's power supply and check
that the new bulb is working.
Maintenance and Care
•   The overhead light is maintenance-free, except for the occasional replacement of the
light bulb. Repair or maintenance work must be carried out by a specialist.
•  Switch off the overhead light or disconnect it from the mains before cleaning. After
that, allow suffi cient time for the ceiling light to cool down.
•  The exterior of the ceiling lamp should only be wiped with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could damage the
housing (discolouring) or impair operation.
Do not press too hard on the housing, as scratches might appear.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, soft brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to
the current statutory requirements.
