Chapter 2: Setup and Installation

Carefully remove the WPIM-RT1 from the shipping box.

Visually inspect the WPIM-RT1. If there are any signs of damage, 
contact Cabletron Systems immediately. Refer to

To prepare the host platform for the WPIM-RT1, proceed as follows: 

Turn off and disconnect the host platform from the power source.

Mark all network cables attached to the host platform for ease of 
re-installation.

Disconnect all network cables attached to the host platform.

Refer to detailed instructions contained in the host platform’s user 
guides to remove the chassis cover, if applicable. Power must be 
unplugged from the chassis before removing the cover. 

To install the WPIM-RT1 into the device, refer to 

 and 

complete the following steps:

Remove the blank faceplate from the appropriate WAN slot by 
removing the three WPIM screws that secure it to the standoffs.

Orient the WPIM-RT1 as shown in 

Carefully insert the WPIM-RT1 connector into the WPIM connector 
pins on the device.

Both the WPIM and the host platform in which the WPIM is 
installed are static sensitive devices. Use an antistatic strap 
and follow all static safe precautions during installation. Failure 
to do so could result in damage to the WPIM and the host 
platform receiving it.

When removing an existing WPIM, pull the module straight up 
to avoid damaging the connector.
