See Figure 16.
Configuration procedure
1 Configure Router1
a Enter the system view.
<Router1>system-view
b Set the local clock as the NTP master clock and the stratum number is 2.
[Router1] ntp-service refclock-master 2
2 Configure Router2
a Enter the system view.
<Router2>system-view
b Set Router1 as the time server.
[Router2]ntp-service unicast-server 1.0.1.11
c Enable ID authentication.
[Router2]ntp-service authentication enable
d Set the key.
[Router2]ntp-service authentication-keyid 42 authentication-mode md5
aNiceKey
e Specify the key as reliable.
[Router2]ntp-service reliable authentication-keyid 42
The above configurations synchronize the time of Router2 and Router1. Because
Router1 does not enable ID authentication, Router2 cannot be synchronized to
Router1. Now the following configurations are added to Router1.

Now Router2 can be synchronized to Router1. The state of Router2 includes after
synchronization:
synchronization:
<Router2>display ntp-service status
clock status: synchronized, stratum: 3, reference clock ID: 1.0.1.11
nominal freq: 250.0000 Hz, actual freq: 249.9992 Hz, precision:
2**19
offset: 198.7425 ms, reftime: 17:03:32.022 UTC Thu Sep 6 2001
(BF422AE4.05AEA86C)
root delay : 27.47 ms, root disper: 208.39 ms, peer disper: 9.63 ms
Now Router2 is synchronized with Router1. Its stratum number is 3, which is 1
number larger than that of Router1.
