Configuration Example

for Upgrading the

Application Program

with FTP

Network requirement

The router is configured with two main versions, and the master and slave version
are mutually hot backup. The IP address of the FTP server is 172.16.104.110, and
the username of FTP is 8070, with password of “3Com”.

Configuration Procedure

Take smooth upgrading main software via FTP as an example, its configuration
steps includes:

1 Add FTP username and password.

[3Com]local-user 8040 password simple 3Com

[3Com]local-user 8040 service-type ftp

[3Com]local-user 8040 ftp-directory flash:/ftp/3Com

2 Enable FTP

[3Com]ftp server enable

3 Delete the redundant files in memory device of the router, so as to ensure there is

enough space left to store new system files. (Optional)

Before upgrading, you are suggested to backup the system file of the router into
its storage device.

4 Login to FTP server, get the main software of the system and store it to the root

directory of the router memory device.

The obtained system file must be stored in the root directory of the router memory
device, such as flash:/. Moreover the file name must be ”system”.
