Editing Regions
The Edit tools in Pro Tools LE are used to edit re-
gions in the Edit window. A region is a piece of
audio or MIDI data that can also have associated
automation data. A region could be a loop, a
guitar riff, a verse of a song, a sound effect, a
piece of dialog, or an entire sound file. In
Pro Tools, regions are created from audio or
MIDI files, and can be arranged in audio and
MIDI track playlists.

Trimming Regions
The following example demonstrates how you
might trim a region to exclude unwanted audio.
After having recorded an audio track (for exam-
ple, a guitar solo), you will have an audio region
on that track. If there is some silence at the be-
ginning of the region that you want to trim, and
there is some extra audio at the end of the re-
gion that you want to trim, you can use the
Trimmer tool in Slip mode to shorten the begin-
ning and end of the region as desired.
