The control screens are displays that 
allow you to control a feature or setting 
by using the Plus (+) or Minus (-) 
buttons on the FreePad. 
Primary Control Screen: These Control 
Screens appear in all FreePad 
configurations. 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 

Secondary Control Screen: These 
Control Screens are secondary spa 
functions. 
 

 

The FreePad display does 

not Illuminate. 

ƒ  Make sure the three (3) batteries are 

installed correctly inside the 
FreePad (see Battery Installation). 

ƒ  Verify all three (3) batteries are new 

and an alkaline type. 

 

The FreePad does not 

communicate with the Spa. 

ƒ  The FreePad may be too far away 

from the spa (out of the 100’ range) 

ƒ  Spa’s power is off. 
ƒ  Check batteries in FreePad. 
ƒ  The FreePad must be synchronized 

with the spa’s IQ2020 Control Box.

2.  Desynchronize if the FreePad 

has been synchronized to a 
different IQ2020 Control Box. 
To desynchronize: 

Press and hold both the Light 
Plus and the Light Minus 
buttons on the spa’s Main 
control panel simultaneously 
for two (2) seconds to initiate 
desynchronization. 
Press any FreePad button to 
wake the FreePad.  When the 
display illuminates, press the 
Minus button on the FreePad to 
complete the process. 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Congratulations on your purchase of the 
FreePad Control System – a two-way RF 
remote control designed to communicate 
uniquely with the IQ2020 Spa Control 
System. The FreePad is the first of its 
kind, allowing you to operate all 
electronic spa functions from anywhere 
within a 100 foot radius of the spa.

 

 

 

The FreePad’s many features will 
enhance your ability to control the spa: 
•  The FreePad is equiped with an 

LCD screen to display all of the 
spa’s electronic functions. By 
pressing any button, the FreePad 
screen will power-up. 

•  The LCD Backlight illuminates the 

screen whenever a button is pressed 
and will automatically shut off after 
10 seconds unless a button is 
pressed again. 

•  The FreePad uses only 3 buttons, 

this makes it very simple to operate. 
Scroll through all the screens using 
only the MODE button. 

•  Two-way communication between 

the FreePad and the Main Control 
Box. What this means is that the 
IQ2020 will inform the FreePad of 
all the spa’s current usable functions 
and its status. On the other hand, the 
FreePad upon demand may request 
the Main Control Box to perform 
any of the spa’s available functions. 

•  The FreePad is submersible in up to 

5 feet of water.   

•  Unique Synchronization assures that 

only your FreePad will operate your 
spa.

1.  Default, Set/Display Temperature 
2.  Jet 1 Control 
3.  Jet 2 Control (if available) 
4.  Clean-up Cycle Control 
5.  Light Control 
6.  Music Control (if available) 
7.  Advance Light (if available) 
8.  Temperature Lock 
9.  Spa Lock 
10.  Summer Timer 
11.  Synchronization (if enabled)

The Interface Module is used to receive, 
send, and interpret signals between the 
IQ2020 Spa Control System and the 
FreePad. 
Installing the Interface Module requires 
the following: 
1.  Remove the equipment 

compartment door of the spa.

 

2.  Attach the Module to the spa 
3.  Attach the cable inside the IQ2020 

control box.  

If this procedure sounds too difficult, 
have your authorized dealer install this  
unit.
