For the private key, ensure that you include the

 lines.

For the certificate, ensure that you include the 

-----BEGIN 

CERTIFICATE-----

 and 

-----END CERTIFICATE-----

 lines.

Paste the private key, certificate, or both into a text editor.

Save the file with a .PEM extension.
