The 

 is the area of the tablet that senses pen movement.

Wherever you place the pen on the tablet, the screen pointer will jump to the corresponding point on the 
screen.  This is the default setting for the pen.

Note: The tablet active area is a mapped representation of your computer screen(s), and by default uses the 
entire screen or all screens if you have multiple displays.  To customize the mapping relationship, see

The screen pointer indicates pen 
position, and follows the movement 
of the pen across the tablet’s active 
area.

Your Intuos4 input tools work only 
on the active area of the tablet.
