PostScript Margins (Printer Margin Adjustment)
The PostScript Margins option allows you to adjust the printer margin. Printer
margin refers to the page’s imageable area, not to the margin settings in an
application. The imageable area is the portion of a page on which the printer can lay
down toner.
You can adjust this area’s position horizontally (x axis) and vertically (Y axis) in
increments of 1/300" from -127 to +127.
Use letter or A4 size paper in your paper cassette with the Align Paper function. The
adjustment is applied to every page size.
1.
Go to the printer home page (fig. 5.7). See “Printer Home Page” earlier in this
chapter for details.
2.
Select Printer Configuration: PostScript Margins (fig. 5.8). The PostScript
Margins window appears (fig. 5.13).

3.
Click Update/Print (fig. 5.13); an alignment test page prints (fig. 5.14).
4.
Turn the test page so that -x is to the left and -y is at the top of the crossed lines
(fig. 5.14).
5.
Check the current settings printed near the crossed lines (fig. 5.14). The factory
default is x = 0, y = 0, which should cause each line to print 1" (25.4 mm) from
the edge of the page.
Coordinates listed indicate the change from the factory default in dots per inch.
When you make a change using the slide bar, coordinates at the bottom of the
screen display the change in the same units.
