Remove the toner cartridge (see “Removing and Installing the Toner Cartridge”
in chapter 1). Never move the printer with the cartridge installed.
a.
Place the cartridge in its original bag to protect it from light. If you no
longer have this bag, place the cartridge in a dark bag or wrap it in a dark
cloth.
b.
Ensure the cartridge stays level during the move. Rock it gently to
redistribute toner before placing it back in the printer (see “Removing and
Installing the Toner Cartridge” in chapter 1).
5.
Remove the interface cables and power cord.
6.
Move the printer to a location that meets all printer requirements (see “Printer
Location” in chapter 1). Then, set up the printer (see chapter 1).
Storing the Printer
Use the following procedure when storing the printer for an extended period.
1.
Turn off the printer. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
2.
Remove media from the cassettes and make sure all printer covers are closed
securely.
3.
Store the printer and media properly.
a.
Store the printer and media in an area with a temperature of 50˚ to 86˚ F (10˚
to 30˚ C) and a relative humidity of 30% to 66% with no condensation.
b.
Store the printer and media in their original packaging or cover them to
protect from dust.
Cleaning the Printer
To help keep your printer running smoothly and avoid unnecessary problems,
perform the following cleaning steps monthly. Also, clean inside the printer after
removing a paper jam or replacing the toner cartridge.
Interior Cleaning
1.
Turn off and unplug the power cord from the printer and power source.
2.
Remove any media from the output tray (fig. 1.3).
