When you choose the Options button of the Setup dialog box,

the following dialog box appears:

Gray Scale

Specifies what halftone pattern to apply to grayscale

images. The options are Photographic Images (default),

Line Art Images, and Scanned Images. Each option is

described below. The best way to choose a setting for your

images is to experiment. Print a grayscale image at each

setting and choose the one you like best.

Choose Photographic Images for images that you want to

have a smooth, realistic appearance. This setting provides

soft contrasts between shades of gray and works well for

images originally designed with color. When Photographic

Images is selected, the printer uses an 8 bit-by-8 bit

“clustered dot” method to emulate 64 levels of gray.
