Figure 1.1 depicts the recommended configuration for the Cisco Desktop 
Product Suite. 

Key points of this configuration are:

The Cisco Desktop (CAD) servers are installed on the same hardware as 
the ICM Peripheral Gateway (PG).

■

Desktop Administrator, Desktop Supervisor, and Desktop Agent are 
installed on machines in the corporate domain.

■

Global configuration files and the installation files for Desktop Agent and 
Desktop Supervisor are placed on a networked file server in the corporate 
domain.

The advantages of this configuration are:

■

Minimal network administration is required to support the product suite.

■

Minimal network security issues arise.

■

Administrators, supervisors, and agents are able to fully use all of the 
functionality provided by the product suite without any additional setup.
