Congratulations on your purchase! The BT1004X and BT1005X tie a wide 

variety of aftermarket radios to your Harley-Davidson Electra Glide

®

 or Road 

Glide

®

 (1998 to 2013). Our modules allow you to use handlebar radio controls, 

have automatic speed-controlled volume, and incorporate the features of 

your aftermarket radio such as USB, satellite radio, GPS, Bluetooth, or iPod/

MP3. Should you have questions regarding your BT1004X or BT1005X, feel

t Read all instructions FIRST. It will make installation easier and eliminate 

potential problems.

t Disconnect battery cables from Harley

®

 battery – negative cable first. Do 

this now! Failure to do so is an improper installation and will cause a short 

to ground and is NOT covered under warranty!

t Go easy. Don’t force parts.

t Prior to disassembly, ensure that you have all necessary tools and parts for 

the job.

t Protect bike finish using towels and blankets. Before fairing removal, prepare 

a safe padded area to store fairing.

t Allow plenty of time – don’t rush the job. Allocate 1-2 hours for completion.

t The Automatic Volume Control procedure on page 15 should only be done 

if you are not satisfied with the stock settings. AVC customization is not 

necessary for installation.
