Working with the Instrument
8.1
Preparing Cutting Tools, Specimen Discs and Preparation Aids
The knives are extremely sharp! Handle with care!
Never try to catch a falling knife!
Place working materials such as the blade box or knives (in the knife case), brush, pincers or
preparation needles and, where applicable, specimen discs into the cryostat chamber.

The necessary tools and preparation aids can
be precooled on the (optional) movable shelf,
making them available at all times in a conve-
nient position for the user.
In addition, specimen discs can be precooled
and stored in the storage system (see page 26,
Fig. 21).

The instrument must be switched on at least 5 hours before the
planned use.
8.2
Turning the Instrument On
The circuit breaker is used as power switch. The switch must be in the top
position for switching on and in the bottom position for switching off. The
switch must be accessible without obstruction.
Close the sliding window.
To avoid frost formation always put the cover on the quick freeze
shelf.
Always cover the quick freeze shelf during breaks and overnight.
