4.6 LOG INTERVAL
The each active channel is scanned once during each log interval.
The Log Interval is the time between readings, expressed in HH:MM:SS
(hours:minutes:seconds). It can be programmed from one second to one day (00:00:01
to 23:59:59). The Keypad has no colon key, so enter the log interval as six numbers
and the colons will automatically be inserted.
The interval can be set much faster than it can print it. At short Log Intervals the OM-
550 waits until printing is complete before beginning another scan, so the data may
actually be acquired less often than the Log Interval setting suggests. If this occurs, an
error message is printed when the STOP key is pressed.
Figure 4-4
This Interval Overrun can be avoided in two ways:
Choose not to print the data at RUN time.
Choose a longer log interval, to allow time to print.
The Minimum log interval is 1 second but the actual rate can depend upon the number
of active channels, battery Voltage input connector and whether or not data is being
printed. The following table gives approximate minimum Log Intervals when logging
with fresh batteries.

For example, the above table shows that if all six channels are logging and printing the
data, it can require up to 11 seconds to complete one scan/print cycle.
