Control Panel Messages
Listed in Table 5.1 are Control Panel messages that either:
• Cause the printer to stop printing.
• Require the user to call for service. 
Also included in Table 5.1 are common, non-error 
messages you are likely to see. The messages are listed in 
alphabetical order.

Control Panel Messages and Corrective Actions

Explanation/Required Action
C1-CHECK TRAY 1
Tray 1 is misinstalled or not installed in the printer.
C2-CHECK TRAY 2
Tray 2 is misinstalled or not installed in the printer.
E1-TRAY 1 JAM
OPEN PRINTER
Tray 1 misfeed.  Check tray and open printer to clear.
E2-TRAY 2 JAM
OPEN PRINTER
Tray 2 misfeed.  Check tray and open printer to clear.
E3-BYPASS JAM
OPEN PRINTER
Manual bypass misfeed.  Open printer to clear.
E4-INPUT JAM
OPEN PRINTER
Paper jam in the input roller area.  Open printer to clear.
E5-FUSER JAM
OPEN PRINTER
Paper jam in the fuser area.  Open printer, open the Fuser cover, release the 
Fuser lever to clear.
E6-DRUM JAM
OPEN PRINTER
Paper jam in the transfer drum area.  Open the printer to clear.
E7-PRINT DRUM
JAM-OPEN PRINTER
Paper jam in the print drum area.  Open printer to clear.
