802.11b

A wireless networking standard specifying a maximum data transfer rate of

802.11g

A wireless networking standard specifying a maximum data transfer rate of

z frequency. It also provides backward

compatibility with

Default Gateway

A router used to forward all network traffic not addressed to a station within the
local subnet.

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

A protocol that enables network administrators central management and assign-
ment of Internet Protocol (

ESSID (Extended Service Set Identifier)

A unique identifier for a wireless network. Also known as “

.”

IP Address

A series of four numbers separated by periods identifying a unique Internet
