Summit Family Switches Hardware Installation Guide

To remove a mid-mounted Summit X480 series switch from a two-post rack:

Attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap to your wrist and connect the metal end to an appropriate 
ground point on the rack.

Verify that the power supplies have been removed from the switch.

At the front of the equipment rack, support the switch while you remove the rack-mounting screws 
holding the front mounting brackets in place against the rack post (

Remove the screws holding the front mounting brackets to the sides of the switch, and set the 
mounting brackets aside.

Support the front and back of the switch as you slide the switch back, off the rear mounting 
brackets, and out of the rack (

Set the switch on a secure work surface.
