Managing Remote Access Concentrators Using Annex Manager
Chapter 4    Setting Up RACs
4-40
Address Assignment Box
Address assignment buttons control the source of the address assignment.
Security server
 - RAC searches the acp_dialup file for the user
name of the remote client and sets the remote address and other
related values.
If the file contains a matching user name and remote address
in the
acp_dialup
file, the RAC uses that value.
If the file does not contain a matching user name, the RAC
uses the local value - the value from the RAC.
If the remote address is set to 0.0.0.0 the RAC negotiates
for the address with the remote PPP client. The connection
is denied for a remote SLIP client.
dchp
 - the RAC contacts DHCP server to request the PPP dialup
addresses.
Local
 - the RAC uses the values from the
Remote Address
 and
Subnet
 fields.
Remote Address Box
The
Remote Address
box allows you to assign consecutive remote addresses
to RAC ports or B-channels for SLIP or PPP connections. You can set up
remote addressing from the
PPP Dial Access
window only for these devices:
5393/6300, 5399, and 8000. For other devices use the
Remote Addressing
window. This window is described on page 4-43.
The
Remote Address
 window uses the
First Remote Address
and
 Subnet Mask
fields to enter and display information. The
Last Remote Address
field
displays the last remote address; you cannot enter text here.
First Remote Address
assigns the first IP address of the entire
range of ports or channels for the selected Annex. If this field
displays
0.0.0.0,
all addresses in the range of ports or channels
are 0.0.0.0
.
