Chapter 8  Providing Web Conferences for Those Outside Your Company
Another deployment option would be to host a single
MeetingPlace Web server in the DMZ for both internal and
external web conferences. Please consult your MeetingPlace
Support Representative to determine the best architecture for
your needs.
Configuring the MeetingPlace Web Server in the
DMZ
MeetingPlace Web can be automatically installed and configured
as an internal web site or as an external web site. The internal
web site server will reside in the Intranet and provide full-
featured access to internal employees, while the external web site
server will reside in the Internet world and provide attend-only
access. This is the most secure deployment, but will require two
separate Windows servers.
For organizations requiring controlled access to MeetingPlace
web conferences for external users, the preferred deployment
option is to place the MeetingPlace Web server in the DMZ.
This server will only allow users to attend public meetings. Users
will not be able to use this server to schedule or review meetings.
To create a public meeting, the meeting must be scheduled with
the “Display Meeting to Everyone” parameter set to “Yes” and
Note:  The MeetingPlace Replication Service on the
MeetingPlace Web server in the DMZ must be enabled and
running. If this service is disabled, participants of a public
meeting scheduled on this server will not be able to access
meeting attachments or view Slide Show presentations.
Note: We recommend configuring external MeetingPlace Web
servers or MeetingPlace Web servers in a DMZ to use SSL. This
will provide optimum security and will resolve proxy server
issues that might prevent users from joining a web conference.
Refer to page 192 for SSL configuration instructions.
