Network Discovery
The network discovery tool allows administrator and configurator users to automatically discover the
devices that exist in the network, and then to create a virtual Network Element (VNE) for each
discovered device to be managed with Prime Network. Use of the network discovery tool significantly
speeds up the process of importing your devices into Prime Network so that they can be managed.

Discovery Profiles
Before starting the network discovery process, you need to provide information that will allow the
system to locate and discover the devices in your network and then to create a VNE for each discovered
device. Your discovery settings are saved in a discovery profile. This discovery profile can be reused at
a later stage so that you do not need to define new settings each time you perform network discovery.
