CDE-250 Compact Flash Replacement Guide 
Procedure 

 

Insert the new replacement Compact Flash card. 

Slide back and close the CDE250 top cover. 

Connect the USB DVD drive containing VQE DVD image into a USB port on the back of the CDE250. 

Physically reconnect the power cables to the power supplies, and power on the system. 

Wait for the install prompt on the serial console (shown below) 

Type “clean250”, and hit the ENTER key. 

System will now install the VQE software.  This should take approximately 20-30 minutes. 

After installing for the first time, the system will fail to boot.  This is due to the fact that the compact flash as 

received from the supplier was unformatted.  Power cycle the system and repeat the install process from step 11.  

The system will now install again and this time will boot up properly afterwards. 

At the login prompt, login as root and set the root and vqe user passwords. 

Configure the management interface and IP address via the “vqe_cfgtool –config” command. 

The system should now be reachable, and the VQE files backed up from step 2 can now be restored.   

Reboot the system and it should be operational with the new VQE software.
