Troubleshooting Checklists
Use the checklists in this section to identify and solve problems.
8.5.1 Troubleshooting Network Hardware Connections
Be sure that the Print Server Card has properly selected the connector type that you
are using.  The connector type is listed on the status/configuration report: 100BaseT,
10BaseT or Thinnet.
•  For Thinnet, check that network connector is plugged into the BNC connector on
the Print Server Card. If the printer is at the end of a run, ensure that a 50-ohm ter-
minator is installed.
•  For 100BaseT or 10BaseT, check that the network connector is plugged into the RJ
connector on the Print Server Card.
•  Try another cable to make sure you do not have a bad cable.
If you are using a 100BaseT or 10BaseT concentrator hub that does not support the
link signal, use Manual Ethernet Port selection instead of the factory default of Auto-
matic Ethernet Port selection. Refer to Appendix A.
8.5.2 Troubleshooting NetWare Protocol
It is recommended you use MAP to get the NetWare setup and parameter values. If
you have not resolved the problem after running MAP, go through the checklists in
this section.
8.5.2.1  NetWare Checklist
•  Is the print server name entered correctly? The factory-default name is XXX_serial
number, where XXX is a three-letter designation for the manufacturer. The serial
number is located on the card.
•  Did you assign print queues to the printer? It is recommended you assign each
print queue to only one Print Server Card-connected printer.  If print queues are
assigned to other network printers, the print jobs may be going to an other network
printer.
•  Did you assign the printer to the type Remote Other /Unknown?
•  If the PCONSOLE settings are correct, the connection between the printer and net-
work may have been broken.  Turn the printer off and, using PCONSOLE, wait for
the status message Not Connected.  Turn the printer on and the status should
change to Waiting for Job.
