12. Monitoring and Statistics
The advanced statistics engine of MicroRed, in combination with the graphing facilities of
MicroView NMS, lets the administrator delve into the results real-time, identifying high
bandwidth nodes and possible bottlenecks.

Using the Status Info Dialog Box
The Status Info dialog box provides all the information displayed in the bottom
pane of the Network Topology tab, with the addition of an extra editable field
which is used to set the Host Name of the node. The displayed information is
useful in cases where the administration unit is “hidden” behind NAT and
connectionless communication (such as MicroRed Polling Protocol and SNMP) can
not be initiated.

Using the Current Throughput Graph
The Current Throughput graph provides a real-time graphical display of
transmits and receives traffic of each network interface. By monitoring
performance and analyzing performance data, you can begin to see patterns in
the data that will help you locate bottlenecks. After you have located a
bottleneck, you can make changes to the component to improve performance.
Bottlenecks can occur anywhere in your server environment at any time, so it is
important to capture baseline performance information about your system and
monitor performance regularly. MicroView NMS provides the option of real time
traffic monitoring.
