Hardware Description

The Token Ring Option Card, shown in Figure 2-35, is an optional card for the 
Vanguard 6455 that provides the following features:

• Routing, Source Route Bridging, and LLC conversion

• Bridging between Ethernet port and Token Ring Port (Translational Bridging)

• Shared token rings with dedicated connection to file servers

• 4-Mbps or 16-Mbps connections

• STP (DB9) and UTP (RJ45) cable types

Only one Token Ring Card can be used in a 6455 at one time.

There is a single LED on the rear panel:

The Token Ring card can be installed in either Option card slot: 

• Top Option Card Slot, Port 17 (ports 18 to 32 are unassigned)

• Bottom Option Card Slot, Port 33 (ports 34 to 48 unassigned)
