A.

Common

Agent

serviceability

tool

This

section

describes

the

serviceability

tool

that

captures

information

about

the

common

agent

and

the

machine

the

agent

is

running

on.

The

serviceability

tool

is

a

script

that

can

be

run

from

the

common

agent

installation

directory,

also

referred

to

as

the

base

directory.

The

tool

collects

diagnostic

information

about

the

agent

and

packs

the

information

into

an

archive

that

can

be

used

for

troubleshooting

or

can

be

sent

to

IBM

Customer

Support

for

analysis

in

the

event

of

problems

with

the

common

agent.

The

archive

includes

an

HTML

compilation

of

the

information

gathered.

Components

The

serviceability

tool

consists

of

three

key

components:

1.

A

script

that

runs

the

tool,

which

is

stored

in

the

base

directory

of

the

agent

(default:

C:\Program

Files\tivoli\ep
):

v

Windows:

service.bat

v

Unix:

service.sh
2.

A

jar

file

located

in

the

lib

directory

(default

C:\Program

Files\tivoli\ep\lib
):

casservice.jar
Note:

This

tool

also

depends

on

the

guid.jar

file

being

in

the

lib

directory,

so

it

can

get

the

GUID.

3.

An

output

file,

CASservice.zip
,

which

is

created

in

the

base

directory

of

the

agent.
Running

the

serviceability

tool

To

run

the

common

agent

serviceability

tool:

1.

Open

an

Command

prompt

window.

2.

Switch

to

the

base

directory

of

the

common

agent.

3)

3.

Invoke

the

following

script

to

create

a

CASservice.zip

file

in

the

base

directory

of

the

common

agent:

v

Windows:

service

v

UNIX/Linux:

./service.sh
Note:

If

you

have

multiple

common

agents

on

a

machine,

you

need

to

run

the

tool

in

the

base

directory

of

each

agent

that

you

want

to

gather

service

information

about.

If

you

intend

to

send

multiple

CASservice.zip

files

to

IBM

Customer

Support,

be

sure

to

rename

them

so

they

don’t

all

have

the

same

name.
