Print Gap Lever and Adjustment Wheel
Before loading paper or a ribbon cartridge, lift the Print Gap Lever to open the print gap.
After loading paper, move the Print Gap Lever down to close the print gap.
To adjust the print gap for a new form, follow the Print Gap Adjustment Procedure outlined
below. This procedure is also on the Print Gap Adjustment Procedure Label on the right side
of the ribbon platform.
Print Gap Adjustment Procedure
1.
Set the Print Gap Adjustment Wheel to position E-3.
2.
Open the Print Gap Lever. Install the new form. Close the Print Gap Lever.
3.
Run the "Print Upper" self-test from the control panel (See the Operator
Manual for details). Alternatively, you can run any print job.
4.
Turn the knob toward the "A" position until the print density is
uniform and no dots are missing.
Turning the knob further than necessary may result in poor print quality and/or ribbon
errors.
After adjusting the print gap to an acceptable position, take note of the position of the Print
Gap Adjustment Wheel. For your convenience, this setting may be written on the Forms
Setting Reference Label located on the left side of the ribbon platform, along with other
settings related to a particular form. This label is specially designed to accept penciled notes
that can be erased.
NOTE TO SERVICE TECHNICIAN PERFORMING PLATEN SENSOR CALIBRATION
If the control panel display calls for position A, use position A-3.
Likewise, for position E, use position E-3.
