The HD camcorder is capable of recording and playing back both High 

Definition (HD: 1280x720p) and Standard Definition (SD: 720x480p) image 

quality. Select the recording image quality, HD (high definition) or SD (standard 

definition), before recording.

•  This HD camcorder adopts the advanced 720p effective scanning lines to 

reproduce a sharper image than the old SD camcorder (480i) and supports 

the widescreen view in the aspect ratio of 16:9.

•  The movies recorded in the HD (high definition) image quality will best fit 

the wide (16:9) HDTV.  If your TV is not a high definition TV,  movies with 

HD (high definition) image quality will be displayed with SD (standard 

definition) image quality.

-  To enjoy HD-quality images, you need a TV supporting 1280x720p 

input. Check you have a high definition TV (HDTV). (Refer to the user 

manual of your TV.)

-  To enjoy the HD-quality images, use the component cable or HDMI 

cable. The multi-AV cable does not support HD-quality images so it 

down-converts them to SD-quality images.

•  The image is recorded in 720x480p when the quality is set to SD in the 

HD camcorder. The movies recorded with SD (standard definition) image 

quality cannot be converted to HD (high definition) image quality.

Le caméscope HD peut enregistrer et lire des images à haute définition  

(HD : 1280x720p) et à définition standard (SD : 720x480p) qualité de l’image. 

Définissez la qualité d’image souhaitée (HD (haute définition) ou SD (définition 

standard)) avant d’enregistrer.

•  Le caméscope HD utilise la technologie avancée de balayage progressif 

720p afin de reproduire une image plus nette que les anciens caméscopes 

SD (480i) et peut accueillir  la vue grand écran au format 16:9.

•  Les vidéos enregistrées en qualité HD (haute définition) conviennent 

particulièrement aux téléviseurs TVHD (16:9).  Si votre téléviseur n’

accueille pas la haute définition, les vidéos à haute définition (HD) seront 

reproduites en qualité SD (définition standard).

-  Pour profiter des images de qualité HD, vous devez posséder un 

téléviseur pouvant accueillir la source 1280x720p. Assurez-vous de 

posséder un téléviseur à haute définition (TVHD). (Reportez-vous au 

guide d’utilisation de votre téléviseur.)

-  Afin de pouvoir profiter de la qualité d’image HD, utilisez un câble 

composantes ou HDMI. Le câble multi-AV ne peut reproduire les 

images de qualité HD : elles sont converties au format SD.

•  Le caméscope HD réglé sur SD enregistre les images au format 

720x480p. Les vidéos enregistrées au format SD (définition standard) ne 

peuvent pas être converties au format HD (haute définition).
