Making an Ethernet Connection
Choose a PC on the Ethernet LAN to which the AP is connected and carry out the
following procedure:
TCP/IP Setup
The following explains how to setup the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows 95/98 to enable an Ethernet connection of the
Access Point Management System (APMS) to an Access Point (AP).  For more
detailed information on TCP/IP setup refer to the Windows 95/98 help files.
step1.    Double-click the My Computer icon
step2.    In the My Computer group, double-click the Control Panel icon
step3.    Double-click the Network icon in the Control Panel group.  The
Network  dialog box will open.  On the Network  dialog box
Configuration card, if the network component "TCP/IP" is installed, go
to step 7; otherwise, go to step 4 to add TCP/IP
step4.    Click the Add button.  The Select Network Component Type dialog box
will open.  The box will show four options:  Client, Adapter, Protocol,
Service
step5.    Select Protocol and click the Add button.  The Select Network Protocol
dialog box will open
step6.    Select Microsoft in the left scrolling window, then select TCP/IP in the
right, and click OK.  You will be returned to the Network  dialog box
step7.    On the Network  dialog box Configuration card, select TCP/IP and then
click Properties.  The TCP/IP Properties dialog box will open
step8.    On the IP Address card, select Specify an IP address and then key in
your IP address and subnet mask.  Be sure that the IP address is in the
same domain as the AP’s (see Assigning a Network ID to the AP, page
25) and the station’s subnet mask is the same as the AP
Assigning a Subnet Mask to the AP, page 26).  Otherwise, the AP’s
subnet mask will prevent the station from accessing it (see Managing
InstantWave High Speed Configurations, page 28)
step9.    Click OK to go back through the dialog boxes.  In the System Settings
Change dialog box, choose Yes to restart the computer and make the
changes effective
